Habitat for Humanity

All of my life, I have had a place to rest my head. No matter the burdens I had to carry or the hardships I had to overcome, the fear of being literally homeless has never occurred to me. There was a time in my life when I felt homeless, figuratively-- when I didn't know how I would survive on the planet without the family I'd shared with Wesley after he died. But I learned how and I found a way to rebuild.

We all have to rebuild at different times in our lives, some more drastic than others. Today's show is about the lives that Habitat for Humanity can enrich and even save when a community joins efforts to help rebuild the lives of those in need. Larry and Gina Copely join us today to tell about their amazing story of restoration. They talk candidly about living in a campground after the death of their daughter and not knowing where to turn. They'll also tell of their amazing triumphs and how the stability of their new home has restored Larry's failing health and has helped their youngest child progress in school at levels they never thought possible.

We'll also undo the myths about Habitat for Humanity homes being free to qualifying recipients and what it takes in each community to make this program possible. It truly takes a village.
